A quick note about finding your therapist at TC:

We have a dedicated intake team to examine what you are seeking as a client. While there may be a certain modality, such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) or ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) you are seeking, please note that ALL OF TC’s THERAPISTS practice with these modalities in mind, though liberation psychology calls upon many different forms of therapy and does not limit itself to one or two modalities.

Clients often come with a particular therapist in mind– however, availability may be limited and many times there’s another clinician (therapist) who actually suits their needs even better.

Please trust the process.

What to expect from me

Hello/Hola!

I’m Maggie Lynn Negrete, a counselor-in-training, receiving my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Commonwealth University. Thank you for welcoming me to into your therapy journey.

What I’m Passionate About

My passion for counseling came after years of working with youth and adults in non-traditional settings, exploring identity and social justice through artmaking and art history informed by my B.A in Latin American Studies from Vassar College and NAEYC certification in Early Education and Childhood Development as well as exploring my divination practices as a Pagan that exposed the efficacy of spiritually relevant therapeutic interventions. Through these experiences, I not only saw the importance of creative interventions that are culturally relevant, but also interacted with a diverse range of clientele and colleagues who often felt disenfranchised and ignored. Thus, my passion for creating safe, compassionate spaces that meet individuals where they are and honor systemic and historic forces was ignited. Supporting this passion is my foremost identity as a nerd. I am passionate about learning and furthering my

understanding of the human experience through research and direct service and therefore, providing evidence-based practice in which my clients will feel confident.

My Therapy Style

Combining research-based psychoeducation and esoteric practices, I am dedicated to helping you explore your mental health and complex identities through a post-colonial, liberation orientation.

As a non-binary femme, I hold space for LGBTQ+ folks and the experience of pregnancy and parenthood. As a white Latina, I understand how privilege, belonging and ethnic/racial identity is complex and influenced by multiple systems of oppression, even internally. As someone who suffers from chronic pain, I understand the mind-body connection and the cyclical influences of physical and mental health. As a practicing pagan, I incorporate Astrology and cartomancy (tarot) as tools to externalize and tackle complex situations and emotions. As a teaching artist, I offer creative outlets for my clients to process and organize thoughts during and outside of sessions.

Theoretically, the use of narrative therapy to restory our lives and cognitive behavioral therapy to reframe our thoughts guides my sessions as we work together. While honoring the time and space necessary for healing, I offer a solutions focused approach that keeps sessions oriented towards your therapeutic goals with actionable takeaways to serve you in the present. My eclectic approach allows me to tailor counseling to your unique needs and environment.

My goal is to support your healthy decision making and coping skills as the inevitable forks and obstacles appear on life’s path, keeping you confidently in the driver’s seat.

Who I Work With

I am available to counsel adults 18 years or older at this time in person or virtually.

Me When I’m Not Being a Therapist

In addition to my therapy practice, I am a proud member of the #notwhite collective where I channel my teaching artist experience into fine arts exhibitions and community-based events and of The Garment District, a psych pop band where I play saxophone, back-up vocals and percussion. Additional hobbies include spending time outdoors hiking, swimming or gardening and sharing meals with my community of family, friends and neighbors.
