A quick note about finding your therapist at TC:

We have a dedicated intake team to examine what you are seeking as a client. While there may be a certain modality, such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) or ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) you are seeking, please note that ALL OF TC’s THERAPISTS practice with these modalities in mind, though liberation psychology calls upon many different forms of therapy and does not limit itself to one or two modalities.

Clients often come with a particular therapist in mind– however, availability may be limited and many times there’s another clinician (therapist) who actually suits their needs even better.

Please trust the process.

What to expect from me

Who am I?

Hi, I’m Mariana (she/her). I was born and raised in Brazil and immigrated to the United States in my twenties. As a female immigrant of color, a lesbian in a same-sex marriage, and a person living with chronic illness, I understand firsthand how oppressive systems shape mental health and access to care. I hold a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University, and I am deeply passionate about helping people heal, grow, and thrive.

My Therapy Style

I draw from a variety of counseling modalities to build an integrative and highly personalized approach to therapy. I strive to create a collaborative and nonjudgmental counseling space where clients feel comfortable and encouraged to be(come) themselves. As a curious lifelong learner, I am committed to ongoing professional growth and specialized training so that my practice continues to evolve alongside the needs of my clients and community.

Who I Work With

I have a passion for supporting marginalized clients (including, but not limited to, LGBT+, nonbinary, BIPOC, immigrants, etc.) in their path to self-discovery, growth, healing, wellness and empowerment. I help people struggling with various aspects of the human experience, such as identity exploration, career development, life transitions, anxiety, depression, guilt, shame, perfectionism, and self-esteem issues. I also have a particular interest in supporting parents in their amazing (and exhausting) journey of raising humans.

Me When I’m Not Being a Therapist

I enjoy making art with my two young children, reading, playing cozy video games, eating good food from various cuisines (especially when I don’t have to cook it) and traveling to urban centers or tropical locations when I am able to get away.
