Montia is a powerhouse of knowledge, compassion, and lived experience, dedicated to walking alongside people during some of life’s most transformative moments. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Norfolk State University and her Master of Science in Infant Mental Health Counseling from Chatham University.
A Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania, Montia wears many hats—National Certified Counselor, Infant Mental Health Specialist, Certified Lactation Counselor, and DONA Certified Birth Doula. She’s currently expanding her expertise as she pursues her postpartum doula certification through DONA International.
Through her work as a Behavioral Therapist II at UPMC’s Magee Behavioral Health and as the founder of Mind Breast Womb, LLC, Montia offers direct services, teaching, speaking, and consulting. She specializes in supporting families and individuals through mental health care, birth work, and lactation support, always grounded in a person-centered, anti-racist, and culturally responsive approach.
Montia’s career has been rooted in serving predominantly minority and lower-SES communities. Her mission is clear: to provide accessible, affordable, and affirming care—especially to people who look like her and share her experiences. Whether through counseling, birth support, supervision, or consulting, Montia shows up with authenticity, warmth, and a fierce commitment to equity and healing.
