Konnichiwa-guan. If you scrolled all the way to the bottom of this page, past both Tuckers (i primarily work with pink hair Tucker), and remain curious– then I’d be happy to tell you about myself. My name is Pav, and I’m a husband, a father of two incredible nuggets, a lifelong player and fan of football (team Messi ofc), and a recovering DJ.
I was born and raised in what is now Pittsburgh’s China Town, Sq. Hill– in the 90s (i can say that bc I’m Chinese+American). I love my city, though our diversity is still loading… I feel a responsibility to curate experiences that cater to and re-balance the bipoc communities who have not been afforded the same opportunities to express themselves in art and in business. Also as a Pittsburgher– full PGH nepotism disclosure– I am indeed married and close personal consultant to the owner of TC, Liana Maneese :)
At TC, I manage the holistic, all encompassing practice of client experience. If you used the internet to get here, which.. nvm, I’ve spent hours mapping out your course. That means anything from the web design, copywriting, marketing and graphics, business analytics, auditing internal systems, even writing code– I essentially amplify and adapt our ability to provide you the best care as a client. Aside from being the only person at TC who doesn’t see clients directly lol, I am a creative builder with the technical background to solve almost any issue at TC and enough entrepreneurial background to convince myself to take a swing at it regardless.
My Own Journey
I got my start to marketing and handling customer experience as a server in the vibrant PGH restaurant scene while getting my degree in Digital Media and Communications from The University of Pittsburgh. It seems overly simple but it was in the restaurant environment that I learned (from great people) how to manage expectations, listen to the patrons ideal experience, curate that experience and, when appropriate, present something they may not have known they wanted at the start. Any service, when done right, is steeped in trust and clear headed execution and that’s where I everything I build starts. When I was given the chance to manage Umami’s social media after a couple years working there as a server, I essentially became the brand voice of the restaurant, and played a key role in doubling business the first year. Eventually i turned that same service model into a successful digital marketing business called Wavy Social. In 2022, deep into the pandemic years and facing the cold reality that our restaurant industry was not going to be the same for a very long time, I completed a coding bootcamp and pivoted into a more technical role.
A lot of what I do is self taught but with sturdy foundations in comms and client focused principles providing the structure of everything I build. From curating this website, to the branding of TC, guiding the alchemy of social media, to developing the model for Caesura– our latest expansion into somatic client care, my job is building and maintaining a reliable bridge between you and the incredibly valuable community healing that our therapists provide week in and week out. The amazing humans who work here, and the vibrant communities seeking guidance like yourself, are what make my job way more fulfilling than I could have imagined. So if you happen to see me emerge from my desk at the office, please say hello (i’m not as cool as i look 😏). My small talk weaknesses are footy news, slow fashion and what music we should play at the office or just bummmmp.
Also please feel free to email me about anything you’ve experienced as a client, the good, the bad, or the ugg, I wanna hear about it, don’t be shy! Reach me at pav@transitionalcharacters.com
See you around!
